Bulfinch's Mythology(2K)

ENYO

the goddess of war, who delights in bloodshed and the destruction of towns, and accompanies Mars in battles.

At Thebes and Orchomenos, a festival was celebrated in honour of Zeus, Demeter, Athena and Enyo, and Zeus was said to have received the surname of Homoloius from Homoloi's, a priestess of Enyo.

A statue of Enyo, made by the sons of Praxiteles, stood in the temple of Ares at Athens. Among the Graeae in Hesiod (Theogony of Hesiod 273) there is one called Enyo.
